3dbaz – 3DPrinterOS has this week announced it is making its cloud 3D printing management software and features open source.
The news comes shortly after the company established a variety of different partnerships, adding support for a number of different 3D printing systems.
The 3DPrinterOS software already offers users a number of unique features when compared to others on the market including the ability to auto repair files, cloud slicing and the ability to stream directly from Pinshape to 3D printers.
CEO, John Dogru, says of their motivation behind the open source release,
“Our goal is to radically reduce the latency between design, manufacturing and distribution of physical products, at the point of need and time of need. Connecting 3D Printers to the cloud is an essential step towards the connected factory of the future. We are excited about the opportunities this release creates for our industry and beyond.”
“This open source release makes it simple for every user and manufacturer to access the power of 3D Printing through the cloud. Now any manufacturer, large or small, can modify, customize and build on top of this release to extend their functionality and make 3d printing easier for their users.”
